After one month in office, #EdMartin appears to be following through, taking actions that have alarmed lawyers inside & outside his office who say he’s leveraging the power of the #DOJ against political opponents & intimidating career prosecutors seen as insufficiently #loyal to #Trump. He fired prosecutors who investigated Trump as a part of special counsel #JackSmith’s team & who worked on #Jan6, 2021, Capitol #insurrection cases.

The #Trump WH has not said how many of the nation's 2.3M #CivilService workers it wants to fire & has given no numbers on the mass layoffs. ~75k took a buyout offer last week.

The campaign has delighted #Republicans for culling a federal workforce they view as…insufficiently #loyal to Trump, while also taking aim at #FederalAgencies that regulate #BigBusiness & collect #taxes -- including those that oversee #ElonMusk's companies SpaceX, Tesla & Neuralink.

Finally, it says, the ”federal workforce should be comprised of employees who are reliable, *#loyal*, trustworthy, & who strive for excellence in their daily work.”

“Employees will be subject to enhanced standards of suitability & conduct as we move forward,” the memo reads.

The emailed message includes a “deferred resignation letter” for federal employees to begin leaving their posts.
