One last Necron update because I finished these models last night. Good to have some extra HQs to switch it up sometimes.

+++Harutekau the Younger's choice of the path of Plasmancer was an unashamed attempt to outcompete his siblings through raw power. Partly succesful, they have become a critical component of the Ivorankh dynasty, yet still eternally looked down upon for their juniority.

The Shunned, though technically part of the royal court, is perhaps the darkest secret of the Ivorankh Dynasty. Having always disdained the destroyer cult, it was to their great embarassement that one of their own fell to it's curse. Seen in battle only as a last resort or as a result of inter-dynastic politics, The Shunned is only ever referred to as such.+++

With the monolith from the last post I've come to the end of what I have for the necrons so far. I put all of it on display last november for Armies on Parade. There should be a nice unfiltered image here to show for that. I have some extra additions to the army coming up in the pipeline, but they will still take some time to paint. Next project I've been working on is a repaint of my old chaos space marines. Hopefully I can post some of those next week.

Always good to have a centerpiece. I also had a lot of fond memories of the old necron monoliths, so I just had to have one.

+++The only way that Kanumhotep XV, the Iridescent, Keeper of the Cloth, Pearl of the Lightless Sea will enter battle is through the gate of one of their stately monoliths. Intended to project the might of the Ivorankh Dynasty, the Phaeron will not allow themselves to be seen without one.+++

Another unit that was tough to assemble. With the whole 'fabric' theme of the army I felt that these had to be in there though.

+++The Ivorankh Dynasty takes an openly disdainful stance on the destroyer cult within Necron society. They view a destroyer's deviation from the standard form as weakness and indicative of a lower heirarchical status. It is therefore very ironic that warriors of the Ivorankh legion are known to have a higher than average tendency to fall prey to the Flayed One curse. Desperate to keep these abominations out of their rank and file, they are herded ahead of the main host and sent into high value targets in the hopes that they do not make it back.+++

Gotta have some lychguard to guard your lych.

+++Kanumhotek XV, the Iridescent, Keeper of the Cloth, Pearl of the Lightless Sea, does not travel anywhere without their Lychguard cohort. Their devotion as bodyguards and companions has allowed them to retain much of their personality during biotransference. Apart from a complete obedience and loyalty override to Kanumhotek, they are still quite free to cogitate and express. This causes both their fashion and fighting style to stand out significantly among the otherwise automaton Ivorankh Legion.+++

This doom scythe was built out of the combat patrol set and I really enjoyed decorating the base with a trilobite fossil. Most of the painting time was spent on the gun crystal since I couldn't really get the contrast to pool nicely.

+++Exemplifying the mobile element of Ivorankh warfare is the frequently used Doom Scythe aircraft. Usually light on heavy weaponry due to their distaste of the destroyer class, the Ivorankh legion prefers to support scouting forces and larger engagements by flying in Doom Scythes to deal with enemy heavy armour.+++

My brother also has a necron army and he does not enjoy assembling the more delicate models. This meant that he was willing to give me his tomb blades so that I could have a unit of 6. But damn they are a fragile kit. Very difficult to transport.

+++The Ivorankh way of war is typically reliant on the traditional warrior core combined with mobile elements. While the enemy is preoccupied by the unending legion of warriors in front of them, units like the Deathmarks and the Tomb Blades teleport and skirt around the edges to eliminate key targets. Especially the Tomb Blades are an ever present element of an Ivorankh force that scouts ahead of the main legion.+++

This is my favourite cryptek model. Knew from the start that I had to have one. Also my preferred general for smaller games.

+++Werutekau the Elder, was one of Kanumhotek's many royal offspring. On the day of biotranference, Kanumhotek solved the problem of their inheritance by assigning each sibling to a cryptek discipline. Werutekau, being the Elder, chose the path of the Psychomancer. Having always excelled in the study of the mind, they are often sent out as the first envoy and ambassador for the Ivorankh dynasty. This usually sets the tone that the Ivorankh prefer to achieve respect through fear.+++

Here's a converted overlord and wardens with melted plasticard robes and a weapon bit from the keeper of secrets that I had left over. Also, I feel there is no point to the hobby without a story for your models:

+++The Ivorankh legion marches only at the behest of one individual: Kanumhotek XV, the Iridescent, Keeper of the Cloth, Pearl of the Lightless Sea. The Phaeron of the Ivorankh dynasty only ever joins battle for their own personal pleasure. Most forces who have surivived an encounter with the Ivorankh only mention Kanumhotek's royal wardens as battlefield commanders. During the pariah nexus campaign, sightings of Kanumhotek have increased. Inquisition witnesses describe them as covered in white textile materials of unknown origin and wielding a massive halberd, reminiscent in design of Aeldari or Slaaneshi weaponry.+++

Gonna post some images of a more recent army this week. Did my #Necrons last year while I was rennovating and moving house, so I kept the color scheme very simple. Only finished them just in time for Armies on Parade and I'm currently still finishing up the final models.

Here already are some pics of all the warriors and scarabs I painted. I wanted a real skeleton horde vibe, so I bought a lot of the 9th ed recruit sets. The colors are boltgun metal, stormhost silver drybrush, nuln oil, ulthuan grey armour panels with white scar highlight and thalassar blue for the energy effect.
