It is hilarious when Yngwie does what otherwise is an awesome solo, completely fucks up on the final note, and everyone holds their breath and doesn't say a word.

Never fail on the last note.

Rewind the vid if you want to hear an otherwise kickass guitar solo.

It doesn't seem fair. I bought that #stratocaster factory-fresh in '78 because I had no hope of affording a 'real' not-cbs Vintage strat.

But now, just because of my age, my baby qualifies for vintage repairs! Just carving a new bone nut is $100! Then it must be installed.

And then the backlog. Six weeks?! I told #12thfret it is their fault for not abducting young people and forcing them into a life of luthierism!

"STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN" GUITAR SOLO, PLAYED AS THOUGH IT WAS WRITTEN BY STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN

Stairway to Heaven solo, if it were written by Stevie Ray Vaughan

"How do you make a song sound like Stevie? Right! You change the beat to a shuffle. Add a wailing Fender Strat with the all the knobs turned up and you're halfway. I also transposed the song and tuned the guitar a half step down, obviously. I tried to add a bunch of Stevie's licks 'n tricks to this iconic solo. I hope you like it!"

Currently blasting this: the epic '10,000 words in a cardboard box' by Twink from the underrated album 'Think Twink'

youtu.be/VfzJXPr1dao

John 'Twink' Adler got his nickname from a home perm product Nd his own tousled tresses. He was at the centre of the 60s underground. In his book 'White Bicycles' Joe Boyd describes a night at middle earth (or was it UFO? I forget) which he says was the pinnacle of the 1960s. Leading the party he says, was Twink.

For me this album is the last flourish of the first wave of English . It's otherworldly and pastoral in parts, grooving in others. The production is pretty amazing, I find it difficult to believe Mick Farren was actually at the controls (great, entertaining writer and important figure but I'm afraid the Deviants are pretty low on my ratings of underground bands of the time).

That said the Deviants Paul Rudolph plays a blinder on here.

One reason the production is so good is that the musicianship is great. There are guest spots for many Pretty Things (that's Twink drumming all over most of the Pretties 'S.F. Sorrow).

I may listen to the Pretties 'Parachute' next.
