Oh fun, I massively overslept. Not surprising. I’ve been pushing myself.

I’ll be fast, efficient, but WON'T panic.

I’ll race to the grocery store this morning, then walk, then edit a chapter. I used Vellum to create the needed files for publishing to Kobo.

These icy sections of #trail are what remained of the #winter in this mountain that hiked earlier this week. The #ice appeared once I got above a certain elevation but was only present below the tree line. Didn’t need microspikes as I could “rock hop” through the sections of ice. #FootpathFriday #mountains #hiking

Baldpate’s west peak from its main summit, western Maine, September 15, 1983.

We are standing on the rocky, alpine summit of a mountain looking back and down along the rest of the ridge. We can see for miles. Much of the summit is light gray rock, which also runs down the side of the peak towards the gap below. That stretch of alpine crest also features a few very low green shrubs and ground hugging vegetation of green and maroon hues. The sides of the ridge are forested in dark green spruce and fir, as is most of the remainder of the several miles of ridge crest looking back. There are two other summits rising above the crest. The closest has some open areas visible near its summit and is almost as tall as the summit on which we stand. Beyond, several other mountain ranges cascade off to the horizon like waves on the ocean. The sky is clear and blue with just two small clouds visible.

Welcome to Spring, may it bring us hope.

Strangely, I haven’t hiked in the spring since childhood. Time to change that. I’ll also release my 2nd book this season.

Yesterday, I replaced a directional bulb on my car. I’m ready to dissemble engines now! Maybe not.

It was snowing during my walk yesterday morning. I doubt that happens again until autumn, but you never know.

Editing continues to go well. I’m also preparing to publish Trust in the Forgotten again, this time to Kobo. I’m aiming for within the next week.

Monochrome image. On a gray rainy day, we are walking a footpath through a dense forest of laurel, ferns and intertwined hardwoods. To our left a couple of very large slabs of rock has fallen from a nearby cliff and created dark and narrow caves where the rocks meet and where the lower rock meets the ground. Three small gray birch trees grow up against the rock in the left foreground. Tangles of laurel and other leafy plants grow along the tops of the rocks.

Snow in the mountains, rain in the valley. This is the norm for this time of year, but it hasn’t been for the last several years.

I hope that means a minimal fire season in late summer, but our smoke problems come from elsewhere.
