If sailor tales to sailor tunes,
Storm and adventure, heat and cold,
If schooners, islands, and maroons
And Buccaneers and buried Gold,
And all the old romance, retold
Exactly in the ancient way,
Can please, as me they pleased of old,
The wiser youngsters of to-day…
—Robert Louis Stevenson’s introductory poem to TREASURE ISLAND
If this don’t fetch the kids, why, they have gone rotten since my day.

With a forecast of clouds and rain for the next week, we decided to go out in the warm sunshine and visit the new Panorama Park on #SanFrancisco's #TreasureIsland and the sculpture "Point of Infinity" by Japanese architect Hiroshi Sugimoto. The park lives up to the name.

Not pictured here are plaques telling the story of the Port Chicago 50, black soldiers convicted of mutiny in unfair circumstances whose story became a civil rights victory for desegregation of the US military.

I really, really hope that "Buried Hearts" doesn't disappoint at the end. My expectations are way too high now.
Halfway through & it is the best makjang I've watched. The only thing that makes it makjang are the circumstances (look up makjang & you'll see many have birth secrets, affairs, amnesia, illegitimate heirs, legitimate heirs challenging the rights of succession, terminal illness, etc.).
"Buried Hearts" manages a lot of these, but all the characters still feel real - not the overly dramatic fake characters you usually find in makjang.
Eagerly awaiting Disney's next Wed. drop.
In an effort to avoid my Korean homework for a bit, I thought I'd mention how much I'm enjoying "Buried Hearts" (AKA "Treasure Island"). With 6 out of 16 eps. aired, it's still strong.
Makjang revenge with mysteries aplenty!
Park Hyung Sik's character here made me think about his other main roles. He plays a genius in almost everything he's in. I'm curious as to why he picks genius characters.
"Buried Heart" (aka "Treasure Island") finally dropped on Disney+!!!
It airs on Fri/Sat, but it seems Disney+ is doing as they did with "The Judge from Hell" and releasing it on Wed/Thu(?) in the US. I didn't check until Thu so I'm not sure if they drop both at once or not.
Anyway --- The 1st episode was so great!!
I haven't seen any other works by this screenwriter, Lee Myung Hee, but her last 2 works: "Money Flower" & "Oh My Geum Bi" both have 8+ ratings on MDL (MyDramaList). I hope she can maintain the level of plot twisty-ness for the series. Such a surprise to get a big plot twist in the 1st episode!
I knew something was up, but never did I imagine what was really up! Looking forward to episode 2.
"Of Silver we have heard no more. That formidable seafaring man with one leg has at last gone clean out of my life; but I dare say he met his old [African wife], and perhaps still lives in comfort with her and Captain Flint. It is to be hoped so, I suppose, for his chances of comfort in another world are very small."
