For the #StarTrek & #StarWars communities & anyone running #HangTrek or #SarlaccPit:
The bots on botsin.space are basically dead now. They no longer boost posts with the #StarTrek or #StarWars tags automatically. The best option at the moment seems to be guppe instances. For Star Wars I’ve been using:
You have to manually mention the bot to get the boost, but it boosts any mentions (like this post). You don’t have to follow it to get the boost. That bot, for example, had 82 followers last I checked. Often users prefer to follow accounts instead of tags. Bots can be included in lists. And bots help draw traffic to instances where tags are not followed or produced. So the bot can help new users discover your posts, including puzzle polls, which helps the games attract new players.

For #StarTrek, there is the @allstartrek bot, which also has plenty of followers and is used for watch parties & general chat. I think this is a good bot to use because it’s established. You can create new guppe instances by just mentioning them, but it will take time after creating a new one to build up followers of the new instance. And numerous instances dedicated to the same subject is probably confusing and will result in dividing followers between them. But if the allstartrek bot is not the right thing to use here, another can be chosen for general purposes.
I forgot to mention the #StarWars bot through my entire last #SarlaccPit puzzle. It’s optional, of course, like adding other tags & also easy to forget. But for whatever you’re doing, these instances can help increase visibility for your posts if you’re so inclined.

On a related matter, there’s also the #Bluesky bridge to the #fediverse. I think it’s still developing, but no longer marked “work in progress.” It worked well enough for me on mastodon.social. I think it may be coincidence that it had issues around the time I migrated. But in the last week it’s also started working on the new instance.
There are some limitations. The biggest is no support for edits. There is also no support for polls, which is too bad for #HangTrek & #SarlaccPit. I’m not seeing replies or other interactions coming through from Bluesky at all, though occasionally I can see a reply there on my bridged profile. It’s imperfect, but there’s some good bits & it can help attract eyes to your content. And it will probably evolve more features like poll support.
Most of your public (not quiet public or lower visibility) posts are replicated on Bluesky if you opt in by following @bsky.brid.gy. You can block the bot at any time to undo the bridge & toggle on/off with follow/block. You can also add #nobridge to your bio to avoid being visible outside #Mastodon (including #Threads). Without bridging, you can follow Bluesky accounts on Mastodon, but your replies will not be visible. The Threads bridge is entirely one-way afaik, at least for now.
Here’s my bridged Bluesky profile. You can see when I boost another user whose account is also bridged, the boost shows up on my profile. If I boost someone who’s not bridged, the boost doesn’t show up on Bluesky. There’s a small delay (minutes), but not much.
I don't think the guppe instances are bridged to Bluesky.
