By simply selecting to follow one of these group accounts, any post where they are mentioned will appear in your home timeline as if you were following the person making that post (even though you may not be).
This is great for communities to form around a common interest.
It also potentially helps remove spammers using popular hashtags from your feed as you don't need to follow the tag if you don't want to.
And the cool thing about Guppe Groups, is that if one doesn't already exist when you search for it, it will be created automatically for you.
NOTE: Just be sure to remove the tag from any replies that don't need to be blasted out to everyone.
