“My childhood was full of it and being able to represent where I’m from is integral to me. Too often I’ll watch stuff and think they’re treating the working class like an art project. It’s very condescending. ‘Ooh, look at the poor!’ But I’m proud to be this mixed-race working-class kid from a block of flats.”

The Guardian · Stephen Graham: the ‘working-class, mixed-race kid’ who cares deeply about the workBy Lanre Bakare

@Daojoan with all this stuff about Adolescence Netflix going round it's nice people are finally acknowledging the danger but this has been going on since Gamergate and the Politicians have been avoiding it until now.

And I don't have any hopes for change in the UK, our Prime Minister is not an agile thinker, this wasn't on his agenda for the next five years so nothing will really be done about it.

Even the Prime Minister saw (half) of it and shared his reaction to the show.
But that's as far as this Government will go on the issues raised, don't want to upset Trump now, do we?

"Boys need sporting role models" says the Prime Minister, missing the point.

According to our PM who is afraid of upsetting Gilead, all we need to stop this is 'more sporting role models'

That's the amount of effort the PM will give this pressing issue, it's not on his agenda for the next five years so nothing will be done about the poisoning of our Youth by Fascism.

"Anything but woke!"

Sky · Sadism, sexual abuse and self-harm: Inside the online gangs where boys compete to be cruelBy Adele Robinson, Sky correspondent, and Sam Doak, OSINT producer

Boys like the Kid from Adolescence grow up to become abusive men who prey on others. If we do something about this toxic masculinity now, we will be saving people who would have been victims.

But it all goes out the window for a US Trade Deal, we want 'good' relations with the Rapist In Chief so there will be none of that 'woke nonsense' about Toxic Masculinity and teaching boys empathy, none of it!

The Guardian · Domestic abusers driving more victims to suicide, warn policeBy Ben Quinn

I don't think this man has seen all the episodes of Adolescence, or he wouldn't be talking about "sporting role models"
If you've seen it, you'll know why that sticks out, but if like Starmer, you haven't you'd think he was making good points and had something relevant to say.

But he doesn't, he even dismisses the Sport Man's suggestion that there should be a 'Minister for Men; to deal with male mental health and toxic masculinity

My Ma was the sporty one, my Dad was always at work on shifts, neither of them were particularly interested in what I was interested in (Space, Cities, etc..) but according to Mr Establishment all I needed was more footy games with my Dad......

...oh my Kier, you're so insightful, 'every boy is the same' and that's not the problem, is it?

Maybe if the Parents weren't at work all the time, building your 'Growth' they might have time to bond with their children?

the kid in the show specifically was not a Sporty kid, which disappointed his dad, which the kid noticed and he spiralled into the realm of the Hate Influencers off the back of it.

But yeah "boys like Sports" don't they Keir
And if they don't, like me, then they are not 'boys' but an Other to be mocked.

Like the kid in the show.

Not a single thing has been learned, has it?
