Gotta say, right now it seems my little @nextcloud thing is rather seamlessly replacing not just Google Drive & Docs but also Dropbox... the only minor thing is,upload isn't exactly snappy - maybe it'll be a little better if I start paying, which I probably will, but if not it isn't a deal breaker for me, I can work around that

Looking for some software to access/backup my files on a remote VPS. It has to be accessible by my girlfriend via an iPhone. I was hoping to utilise the iPhone's built in File browser, but hosting SMB share on the internet without a VPN barrier sounds like a bad idea. Furthermore, #NextCloud seems to be too bloated for what I need. I just want files. Hast anyone any recommendations? Has anyone tried ownCloud infinite scale?

While not perfect #nextcloud is the hands-down winner. I run ours on a RPI-5.
Currently lacks #ActivityPub (current app is promoted but is hopelessly broken) but for photos files chat and sharing links to your files nothing else comes close.
There was someone working on a Social replacement; maybe if note of us use it and moan about Social, perhaps more devs will find it important. I would so much rather have Social functional than have any chat ai assistant I'd never use!
Managed to connect Obsidian to Nextcloud Notes on all my devices. Fortunately it saves files as md, so I don’t need to make any changes.

Ich habe seit gestern Abend #Recognize auf meiner #Nextcloud am Laufen, die meine Bilder zu taggen versucht. Vieles ist OK (hat mir viele tolle Erinnerungen zu gewissen Themen zurückgebracht

Vieles ist korrekt, aber wenn das «Titelbild» einer Kategorie völlig falsch ist, regt es doch zum Denken an.
Bevor wir zu den «bekannten» Fehlschlüssen und ein paar unerklärlichen Exoten kommen, fangen wir mit ein paar Amerikanismen an.
Dies soll angeblich eine #Waffe sein.

An dieser Lasergravur tut sich der Algorithmus schwer. Ist das jetzt Wasser oder ein Löffel? Oder doch ein Boot?
Auch hier sehr gut zu sehen: Wenn es zu einem Bild keine ausreichenden passenden Trainingsdaten gibt, wird einfach zufällig etwas gewählt.

Been trying to connect #OpenMaps from my phone to my #NextCloud for like twenty minutes (I have a site survey of a county coming up, prefer it on my server than Giggle Craps, NDAs and stuff). Finally log into my NextCloud to find that I'd somehow disabled the NC App. [ *Galactic Face Palm* ]

Ok wtf, I set up a Hetzner account today as I was considering setting up a #nextcloud server and maybe some other stuff but a few hours later I got an email saying that they noticed irregularities with my account and just deleted it. No possibility to get information on what I did wrong, they just straight up won't talk to me.
Don't fucking use #hetzner I guess

@G00NZ00 Mit #Nextcloud bei @hetzner bin ich seit ein paar Wochen im Testbetrieb und erwäge komplett darauf umzustellen. Sogar die Verwandtschaft beginnt die Umstellung zu tolerieren, ein wichtiges Kriterium. Fotos werden vom iPhone automatisch hochgeladen. Geteilte Alben haben die Feuertaufe bestanden - auch jetzt von unterwegs aus. Welcher Komfort ist dir der wichtigste?
