The night seemed so peaceful, covering the land in the forgiving colours of darkness. The shimmering of stars scattered, interrupted by the black of the clouds on the night sky. With dusk, there came a faint sound; a humming at first, it slowly grew into a growl, a roar. Then, she broke through the clouds: The "Nebelkrähe", like a claw tearing the skin of its prey, lair in the skies to the infamous Tyr Ambellan, carrying him from one site of massacre to the next, like a dark omen foreboding misery, like the wind carries a plague.

The Guardian · ‘The flying bum’: can a UK firm making huge airships finally get off the ground?By Jasper Jolly

Oh, one last thing before I hit the sack.

If you want to watch #filibus, it's up on wikimedia commons:

I recommend against re-releasing or remixing the above copy if you're worried about copyright infringement, as that one uses a new translation and new inter-titles which are probably under copyright. The original english titles are lost, afaik.

I'm working on a new new translation ( communitymedia.video/w/nYaqWnn ) with cc-by-sa intertitles and a new score, but it isn't ready yet.

That's one of the projects I want to pick back up in the near future.

Regardless, #filibus is a #feminist #skypirate film full of #airship shenanigans and #queer #romance #revolutionaryJoy. It's also 100 years old, and it was the inspiration for our #skypirates playset.

Continued thread

There's a third #skypirate film in this proto- #steampunk trilogy called The Arial Anarchists, but it has been lost for around 100 years.

It's based on a book, though. The book is called Hartmann, the Anarchist; Or, The Doom of the Great City by E. Douglas Fawcett

That's on PG and Librevox. I haven't read it. I might not ever read it. Who knows?

But if you wanted to watch a 115 year old science fiction film about sky pirates... well, go watch The Pirates of 1920, it's a much better movie than The Airship Destroyer.

But if you wanted to watch a Second 115 year old film about #skypirates... Go watch The Aerial Submarine, it's a much better film than The Airship Destroyer.

But if you wanted to watch a THIRD 115 year old film about #airship pirates... well, The Airship Destroyer is now available.
