Hola. Hacía muchísimo que no me grababa bailando. Hace mucho que no me fluía improvisar.
Hace una semana hicieron 9 meses de la muerte de mi madre. Cómo pasa el tiempo. Es muchísimo, y a la vez es nada. Sigue siendo raro.
Estoy empezando a notar que "recupero mi cuerpo". Con todo lo vivido, cambió, y no me gustaba. Está volviendo, con los cambios naturales del tiempo, obvio, pero pudiendo aparcar los cambios del estrés, del dolor, de la desmotivación, la falta de fuerza y el no poder más.
El ciclo está volviendo a cómo era. Tuve un retraso guapo, para volver a sangrar en las sombras. Y es como que aquí, en la Luna Nueva, me encuentro de nuevo.
Entre todo esto, y que estoy enfocada en el Generation Tribal Fest, donde estaremos en una semana, y que estoy ilusionada, emocionada, nerviosa y con muchísimas ganas... Pues hoy, hoy fluyó bailar. Estaba probando entrenando el bellyroll, como se puede apreciar. Y me gusté. Me estaba gustando cómo me veía. Así que aquí me inmortalizo, me traigo, y me comparto. Mientras el mundo sigue revuelto entre miles de terrores, y a la vez combato en mis propias luchas.
También es raro que hace 2 meses que vivimos en la nueva casa. Y que por la ventana veo ciervos, ovejas, pájaros y plantas, en lugar de personajes que se gritan, que arrancan motores, que golpean animales y cosas.
Joder, con los cambios.

Y bueno, que hoy envié la música que bailaré el sábado que viene, y solo espero tener la energía para ello...igual me he pasado un poquito. Y a la vez, necesito eso, sacar la FireBender que llevo dentro.

Me flipa copiar estilos para integrar cositas que se conviertan finalmente en algo transformado y mío. Y a veces, por el placer de hacer versiones de unos personajes en estilos de ilustración de otras artistas, y cosas así.

Este dibujo lo hice para el cartel del show de danza que hice inspirado en Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

La pose es de Zoe Jakes, bailarina de tribal fusion bellydance, y en la ropa lleva joyas y detalles característicos de esta danza. Fue un diseño para el cartel del show de danza que hice inspirado en el universo Jojos.

Twenty-some years ago, I was the music director of a radio station and was also a professional bellydancer. Every week, I'd have telephone meetings with record execs to go over how well their albums were doing at the radio station. One of those contacts was Miles Copeland, the manager for Sting and The Police.

He was fascinated when he found out I was a bellydancer and told me he was putting together a project. It would do for bellydance what Riverdance did for Irish dance. He asked me if I'd like to be a part of it.

I was flattered, and said no. I had no intention on relocating to NYC.

Not long afterwards, Bellydance Superstars was formed. And although it didn't get the same kind of audience that Riverdance got, it had a vocal subculture appeal. It was immensely popular with amateur and professional belly dancers all over the world. The audiences were mostly made up of other bellydancers and their families. They did, however, have a wider audience when they performed at Lollapalooza.

I don't think Bellydance Superstars is around anymore. A lot of the dancers went on to have big solo careers. A lot of them are still dancing in the workshop circuit and/or teach online classes.

Sometimes I wonder what might have happened if I'd taken Miles up on his offer.

My performance at Tribally Yours in 2007. I was in the midst of a terrible asthma attack throughout this performance, and no one had a clue because the show must go on. I was barely breathing the entire time. When I got off stage, I basically collapsed. The smoke machine at the venue is what triggered it. It took me over a month to recover, and the people I was traveling with thought I was faking being sick.
