If you are on the fence about installing #Linux to replace your #Windows install let me tell you the installation process is a lot more simpler than you might think.

Things get a
little more complicated (just slightly) if you have #BitLocker volumes but Linux can now mount BitLocker volumes too!

If you have an
#Nvidia #GPU things there's only one extra step.

There's also
#CrossOver which is a VERY user-friendly commercial version of #Wine which lets you install and run Windows apps and games (complete with 3D acceleration).

The best time for ditching Windows for Linux was last year. The second-best time for ditching Windows for Linux is today.

First of probably at least a couple of posts describing my experimentation with getting a modded Skyrim working on my M1 MacBook Pro. using Wine. Describes experimenting with the Whisky app as well as a trial version of Crossover. Findings so far: Skyrim itself works, but modding is going to be a challenge! MO2 works, but not so much on Vortex or Wabbajack. Recommendations from informed parties are welcome.

Followup on my discovery of the Whisky app for installing Windows stuff (notably, games, notably especially for me, Skyrim) on macOS:

My attempt to install Whisky was shaky, it wasn't entirely happy with the current version of the Steam Client. I _was_ able to get Skyrim installed and running, but I had to jump through a hoop to make Whisky download a previous version of the Steam client. Which seemed suboptimal. Also, I had weirdness with Skyrim's sound once I got it running.

So now I'm also going to investigate Crossover. This does the same thing as Whisky, and it's also open source. But it's not free. So I'm going to play with the trial version and see if it's more solid. More to come!
