Earlier today, I learned some devastating news. An old friend of mine from Columbus, Derrick Wilson, was killed on Memorial Day evening while walking around Brice Road in Columbus, down the street just a few miles from where we both hung out at, the Big Easy/Screaming Willies/Club Dance. I'm in shock about his passing. He left behind a wife and two young children. What apparently happened was that it was a hit and run and the person who did it hasn't been caught yet. Derrick was such a cool guy who seemed eager to do stuff when we were out. He was one of the few people I knew who always seemed to be positive. His death is a shock. I hope they catch the bastard who drove that car and killed him. There are traffic cameras in the area as it was an infamous speed trap village he was walking around, that being the village of Brice in the city of Columbus, so somebody down there has to know something. God, I've got this urge to want to do something myself but I don't have the means to do what I'm tempted to do...physically, financially, or otherwise. I have to keep my head about me. The only thing I could do was share a GoFundMe link on my personal Facebook account and my personal Twitter account. If anybody reading this wants to find that link, look on Twitter under my "djhamrick" handle and look for it there as it's my "interacting with the public" account. Right now, I just don't know what more I can do. I guess for the time being I'll just say this: Derrick, we down here will miss you bud...rest in peace and peaceful journey, my friend.
