Yesterday I posted about the 2 spotted ladybird, first discover in NZ recently. Here is another newcomer, this one introduced from Australia in 1899, the Steelblue ladybird, Halmus chalybeus, to control black scale and blue gum scale on citrustrees. They are regularly seen in Beau Vista orchard in Wairarapa. #ladybird #ladybug

#nature #ladybird #insect #garden #wildlife It's the vernal equinox just saw the first on the wing ladybird, landed on a big clay pot and started doing laps around the rim, after the 12th time I thought mate you're getting nowhere and thought meh first time nature has made me feel depressed lol this is me as well. Then it suddenly changed direction and went into the pot no doubt finding some juicy aphids on the spring pea shoots. Doing better than me at least.

Until #LadyBird becomes available, a great alternative is #ZenBrowser; unfortunately, it is not yet available for smartphones. There is also #LibreWolf. Currently, the existing alternatives seem still immature, and the trade-off between usability and #privacy is challenging. Additionally, there is #Servo, an engine developed by the #Linux Foundation. However, many have moved to #Brave. For now, I will try Zen, seem nice, waiting for other alternatives to mature. #Firefox is going down a dead end

Can someone more in the know remind me of what's happening with #serenityos and #ladybird ? I remember a while ago there was a bunch of controversy for some reason or another, but given the sheer volume of horrors lately I don't remember the details. Just want to make sure I'm not gonna be supporting a n*zi or something (ie: suckless) if I decide to check it out.

@methuselah @Linux @BrodieOnLinux #Firefox Forks is a short term solution that works right now. We still have GNOME Web as an independent project (though depending on Apple's Webkit, but Apple is less powerful on the Web than Google) for medium term. And for longer term, hopefully in 2-3 years, I hope either #Verso or #Ladybird will mature. Ladybird has 7 people working full time and some funding.

So Firefox forks better right now, if Mozilla falls in a few months, switch to GNOME Web.
