I got my brother to pick up my package (after walking him through the steps of picking up a package with a QR code for the first time), so I am now the proud owner of a vintage skirt hem marker!

And Brumma has a new cardboard box to play in!
We are both very excited.

in the front right of the image is a skirt hem marker with a red base and a red chalk compartment, and yellow air hose and pump. a small bag of chalk is leaned against the base. to the right of it is the blue box for it. the left half of the image has a big cardboard box full of crumpled up newspapers, with a tortoiseshell cat in the middle of it.

And, in little hat: Yesterday put on the brim wire and petersham. You could do this by machine if you were willing to get annoyed at the million clips and/or pins you'd need, but I just did it by hand.

The texture of the black linen is a bit obscured by just so much wispy cat hair, kindly lent by both of the cats loitering in the background. A ginger tabby and a white and brown classic tabby. The latter is looking a bit annoyed that his route is blocked by cat and hat.

Kitty pls, I was trying to do sewing things.

At least I could unpick the old patch (sorry Commodore Hustle patch, Outer Wilds deserves the best placement) without her protests, but I can't reach the thread and scissors.

Ah yes, a double-cat on my sewing. Quite effective! I couldn't pick between the photos so just put together all three of the best ones.

They are leaning lightly against each other, and in the three photos doing different cute cat expressions. Mid blink in the shot, doing a little head tilt, affectionately headbutting the other cat. They are quite adorable, all soft and so primly sitting, whiskers pointed towards the camera, politely making demands of Sini's time and attention. Completely and fully stopping not only the sewing, but also the watching of the screen behind them, where a woman with blue hair on YouTube is doing a video essay. The lighting is a mix of cool winter sunlight and warm yellow artificial light.

And in #SewingWithCats - Karvinen is helping me in disassembling this linen shift so I can toss the threadbare bits and repurpose the fabric that is still good. Invaluable assistance!

An adorable photo, on a Dutch angle which is to say artistically on the wonk, of a ginger tabby cat rolling around on and under white linen. He has crawled under a smooth fold of it, and has somehow managed to get one of his back paws also on a sliver of seam allowance being trimmed off. His fur is a deep caramel, with red and copper shadows, and some creamy nougat bits on his underside, which is seen here somewhat as he's on his back, curled up in a belly up croissant. His front paws are tucked into his chest, curled like bunny legs, and his forehead flat against the desk surface. His eyes are half closed and he exudes a sense of deep enjoyment, comfort and knowing how absurdly cute he is. There's a sewing machine and another pile of fabric in the background. Cold blue winter light attempts to cast him in cool tones and fails, he is radiantly orange in lamplight.

I decided that I'm done embroidered through felt for this project, so I'm adding a lining fabric to my "skirt sack".
I only got halfway though, because even if the fabric is just a foot wide scrap, it's still perfect for Brumma to sleep on apparently...
