Since memories are retained based on importance and emotional charge, sometimes I intentionally don't forgive myself a mistake I've made.

I do this to retain the memory of it longer – the steps that led to it, my misguided actions, and the lesson thereafter.

Instead of granting myself the relief of forgiveness, I find solace in the idea that I will do better next time as I won't forget.

If you teleported like in Star Trek and the ship you teleported from was moving, you would keep that momentum after you teleported (Newton’s 1st Law of Motion). So people would crash into things a lot unless a counterforce acted on their transported molecules. I imagine that force would be quite strong to counter the incredible speed a ship like the Enterprise moved in space. And that force would hurt the person, or worse, so technology would have to remedy it somehow. 🤔

And now for those Pork Store Rejects, put your hands together for Canned Spam and their number 1 hit single, Salty Plate.

“Thoughts are ephemeral, they evaporate in the moment they occur, unless they are given action and material form. Wishes and intentions, the same. Meaningless, unless they impel you to one choice or another, some deed or course of action, however insignificant. Thoughts that lead to action can be dangerous. Thoughts that do not, mean less than nothing.” — Ann Leckie, Ancillary Justice

My Father once said to me as a kid, an offhand comment that sent the hairs on my neck northwards...

"All your heroes will die."

I think about that often in my late 40s. Lennon died when I was a kid. But then Dime and Schuldiner went. Mercury. Gallagher. Staley. Cobain. Bonham. Harrison.

Thing my Father forgot is these people left a legacy. Yeah we'll all die, but lets all strive to leave something inspirational behind.

sometimes i wonder if one of the reasons that we're feeling burnt out so frequently is due to the abundance of options we have before us.

idk i grew up in the 90s and it was go outside, watch tv or play pretend. and pretend play was stuff i had to organically create in my mind.

today it's watch tv, but streaming services have too many options. go on my phone and constantly shift gears on processing what i'm reading or watching.

are we drowning in too much freedom?
