Justice for Willie Simmons

While it's not really a one to one comparison, this same account on Twitter had me blocking hundreds and hundreds of trolls, while here I don't remember a single troll.

On Twitter their algorithm would get this account exposed to more users, many were just trolls.

One example was a post comparing the Roger Stone sentence, to what Willie got. Lots of folks would reply that they didn't think Willie was a real person or the facts were not correct. So I would reply to them, with a link to our website justiceforwilliesimmons.org/ At which point many would resort to trolling me.

So while I believe people who say they have problems with trolls on mastodon that hasn't been my experience.

How can this happen? Sometimes, accounts want to follow me that are completely empty, no posts, no communication (even not on their instance). But they have crazily many followers in a very short time. A new scam? Superfamous people under idiotic aliases? 22 K followers - most of them with 0 followers ! for a guy with an idiotic alias and a fake profile photo.

Why do I attract the most frail of attention seeking egos? I think that I'll just block people indiscriminately on #Mastodon from now on, without warning. I'm not here to be a buffer for your vanity or your smugness.

In fact, go out and meet people. Try to do it with them. What are the results? They won't invite you to parties - and it shows.

You have no place in my life anymore either, as I'm cleaning up my digital environment. This means #besserwisser, #trolls & #debatebros get the cutoff.

agreed. in this regard, #socialMedia can be a force multiplier for good as well as what it is now: a force multiplier for #bigotry and #plutocracy

but that makes our communities a target

so we need something like #mastodon where we can squash the #trolls without the "fReEzEpEaCh!" #bigoted morons and #centralized #corporate social media indifference or tacit support for #ignorance and #hate

we need the #fediverse to grow

Note that they are also disgracing my employer, not just me! I like to keep my employment reasonably private from daily online life, not publicly in your face.

People are forced to buy food with credit there, because they can’t afford it from their paycheck, but this is what Russia has money for?
