I don't use Instagram Reels much anymore since uninstall the app about 6 months ago, but once in a while I absent-mindedly click into it from the browser. And I cannot believe just how bad the content it is feeding me has gotten.

Every. Other. Reel. is something that is overtly racist, sexist, or horrible (i.e. mocking someone with down syndrome.) When I used the app, my "algorithm" was basically skateboard videos, cats, rock climbing, and left-wing comedy skits. Traces of that remain, but the majority of content has become hypertoxic.

I can't tell if this is the new normal for Instagram, or if the algorithm has "reset" for me and this is what Zuck wants a late 20s white guy in America to be seeing on a regular basis. There's undeniable convenience for Zuck and how he's positioned himself in normalizing this stuff given the larger political picture and how he's aligned himself with Trump.

Anyone else having a similar experience?
