Looking at the few print books in the results, the subject headings are sometimes confused. I don't know the mechanics of the MARC record updates, but it's really disappointing to see this at all in Canada.

Okay, so people think this rename was nothing but hubris, but I think people need to remember how many laws there are in place forbidding drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, "...but your honor, there aren't any laws saying you can't drill in the Gulf of America..."

Every single country in the Western Hemisphere is part of the Americas, named after an Italian explorer who figured out Columbus was a dumbass who didn't reach India. The United States of America just has the least original name in the hemisphere. Even the "United States" part belonged to Mexico first. When people here as if I'm Americano, I say "todos somos Americanos. Soy Estadounidense" It's fun to say, and uses every vowel. So there.
This is wrong on so many levels, but most of all, geographically (where's the southern hemisphere?!).
It captures perfectly the current ridiculous MAGA moment and how they perceived themselves.
If it wasn't so sadly ernestly patriotic I'd almost think it was mocking America's insular worldview and world geography ignorance.
