Next in my Canadian series: la belle province. The symbols of Québec, its provincial bird, the snowy owl and its tree, the yellow birch cover the hand-carved map of #Québec in this #linocut. The block was inked 'à la poupée' (with different colours, Payne's gray, gold, black and yellow, in different areas) and printed by hand on lovely Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper.

Whoa. It was reported in Michigan.
Orange alert: what caused the colors on this Snowy Owl?
"Rusty-colored Michigan snowy owl turning heads, likely a genetic mutation"
Miss Snowdrift, or Snowy as she's known, owns and manages the Musky Murre, an avian bordello and saloon in the Low Town District of Whiterock. Whiterock is almost done, coming off the press in March.

Need an owl? Maybe a snowy one? Everyone should have one!
They are so fluffy! But best not to anger one judging by those claws.
I had been hoping to see a snowy owl for years before I finally did. Of course, it was unexpected. We went out for a drive one day and stopped at a park at a marina in Whitby. The wind, water, and freezing temperatures had transformed the landscape. I was admiring Nature's work when I saw...was it...yes!!!!!!!! My first snowy owl in the wild. :)

This was taken a few years ago in SW #Ontario in July. Normally these guys go north for the summer but he was around all summer. Best guess was that it was a juvenile that missed the memo about breeding up north.
