Today turned out to be a pretty decent day weather-wise. I even felt the warmth of the sun on my face – when the cold wind was courteous enough to stop blowing for a second. Is that a Christmas tree in the river? I think so. A few spiders had also noticed the sun. It's wonderful to see bugs moving on the ground after the winter. The little things in life etc... And floofy tawny owl chicks :) I hope they manage to elude goshawks.

Since I got there early on the day, the sun was finally shining into their home, usually the owls are mostly in the shade and it makes awful photos.

The tawny owls always remind me of Lechku and Nechku from Okami.

And finally found Stolas... I mean the barn owls at a spot to take a picture of. :blobfoxpeekowo: They look a bit sleepy though.

I had a pair of first sightings over the weekend, it started on Saturday with my first Tawny owl asleep at the entrance of its box. Followed up Sunday with seeing my first Skylark, barely visible in the grassy meadow.

The photos are basic but it was great seeing them, we both looked at each other so excited when we saw them.

To add to the owl theme, this one is a (Strix aluco). We arrived and met a fellow birder. He said not much was about, only the owl. It appears it is regularly sitting out in the fairly open, during the day, hence I have not given the location so as to prevent disturbance.
Again, this is my best photo of a Tawny owl, so far, but hopefully I will achieve better one day
