Been messing with loom beading, these are my first three projects! Lessons were learned lol. Pictured: Three bracelet-sized bands of beading. The farthest from camera is out of focus, with a vaguely festive green and red patters and a wave to it, like wrinkled fabric. The middle band is less wrinkly, with a cross stitch like pattern- a red heart in the middle flanked by simple flowers of different colors. The closest band is not at all wrinkly, and is blue with a heavily stylized bird. The bird is outlined in black with a yellow to orange, sunset like gradient in the wings and tail. I was told by my beading teacher that it is a historic Native American pattern of a diving loon.
My first historic tablet weaving in progress, the simplest Oseberg pattern. One day I’ll get brave and do the complicated ones! The pattern is simple and slightly asymmetrical, with repeating white parallelograms inside a plum colored stripe that’s just off center.
My first nepenthes, x Briggsiana, who is doing wonderfully and has been joined by a small gaggle of other neps that tolerate household humidity. I was lucky this was my gateway plant; it survived my beginner mistakes and I adore the dark color and wide peristome! A stunning Huni Kuin bracelet that I brought from my travel to a community in Brazil. Look at the beauty of this handmade treasure, it reminds me of what one can achieve with patience. I put it flat for the photo, but I'll take another one later wearing it so you can properly see it.

Candy Fair

A friend of mine had a beautiful drawing pinned near her front door that served as a “Guardian of the House”, and I loved the idea of having a small, #handmade amulet to protect our home when we're away.

For this piece, I used #bronze clay for the head and #Miyuki glass #beads woven together on a small loom. The pattern on the bead band is inspired by an Icelandic magical stave, or "galdrastafir", which is said to symbolize protection.

Here's my progress so far, along with the original sketch in my #sketchbook when I was considering making it completely in bronze.

Me doing picots on a bracelet, first side: okay this is slow but look, so pretty! not hard! relaxing! time-consuming but worth it!

Second side: I think an asymmetrical bracelet sounds super cool. 👍
