I like having cream with some drinks (my coffee, hot chocolate, or chai) but I don't drink enough of those to keep cream around all the time.

I've tried powdered cream and it's "OK", though not as good as the fresh stuff.

I'm wondering if other people have this problem and what they do about it?

Okay, here's my Dirty Chai recipe - but with the warning that it is chai-mix dependent. I used a different chai blend with the same ratios and it didn't taste as nice. But this is at least a starting point... and it may be irrelevant because I use different equipment! This is made for a Hario Switch (combination infusion/pourover device).

Ingredients:
* 10 grams ground coffee beans
* 20 grams chai mix/blend (this is not "instant chai", it is a mix of herbs and spices, without any milk powder, but with added sweetener)
* 250 ml boiling water

Method:

1. Set the Hario Switch to infusion mode
2. Put in your coffee filter
3. Pour in the hot water FIRST
4. Pour in the coffee NEXT. Stir gently to make sure all the coffee is submerged.
5. Then the chai mix LAST. Stir this gently also.
6. Allow to steep for 2 minutes.
7. Set the Hario Switch over to pourover mode and let the liquid drain into the jug

Pour into your cup and enjoy!

Yes, no milk. It is delicious enough without it, but it would be delicious with lovely frothy milk too.

Can anyone recommend a brand of tea for making a good strong cup of chai at home?

I want full-bodied, warming, and spicy, like what you'd find at a good Indian restaurant, but the kinds I've tried so far (most recently The Republic of Tea's "Republic Chai") have been weak and disappointing.

I am not a tea expert, so I also acknowledge that maybe I can't achieve this using bagged tea, and I'd need to use a recipe to get that result?

De alguna forma* hay que celebrar que hoy es viernes y que salgo ½ hora antes. (Aunque el domingo empiece turno de noches).

*Y porque tengo la taza de Eddie en la fregadera.
