Episode 8 of "Poker Face", The Orpheus Syndrome, was written and directed by lead star Natasha Lyonne.
Guest stars on this episode were Nick Nolte, Cherry Jones, Luis Guzmán, Rowan Blanchard, and Tim Russ. Are you watching Rian Johnson's "Poker Face" on Peacock? (Not a Lady Gaga biopic, by the way) 📺🍿

Last week I wrote about how @jamesgunn and Peter Safran are challenging the status quo when it comes to how superhero movies are made. Read about how I think they could reshape the landscape here: thepostcredits.substack.com/p/

Tomorrow, I'll be breaking down how writer/director Rian Johnson presents a framework for challenging the franchise/blockbuster complex from within. Keep an eye out!

I wish I could make an advance purchase for tickets to all of Rian Johnson’s future movies. A Rian Johnson subscription box, if you will. Lucasfilm's failure to lock him in for his original Star Wars trilogy while they could should go down as one of the biggest failures in Hollywood history.

Planning an epic movie marathon weekend. Thinking three movies on Saturday, two on Sunday. The only definite is Tár Saturday night, which I still haven't gotten a chance to catch.

Also considering finally having the Knives Out/Glass Onion rewatch double feature I've been wanting to have for a long time. Maybe Brick to go with them and fill one of the holes in my Rian Johnson catalog.

Any other recommendations?

Lately I have been wondering if Rian Johnson is a key to a better Hollywood? He made a Star Wars movie for God’s sake, one of the biggest-budget franchises you can get, and he did it while taking major risks. He’s bold, unique, and creative. He knows how to operate within the system he’s given, while using it to rebel against that very system itself.

@MudMan He also said that he was very hesitant to keep making more Knives Out movies because he wanted them to have endings and the only way that he was okay doing it was if they could all be standalone films with their own contained story. He's said he hates that Glass Onion has to have the "A Knives Out Movie" subtitle because he wanted it to stand on its own.

As for Star Wars, I don't disagree, but I think that's part of why he could play a critical role in Hollywood's future. He has a unique and distinct perspective but is also willing to work within the system that we currently have to bring that perspective to as many people as possible, which for better or worse is franchise films and sequels right now. In my mind, not to overdramatize things, he's fighting the system from within.
