Fact Check: No, Switzerland hasn't banned mammograms.

Confusion is spreading online thanks to bizarre rumours about a supposed ban on mammograms in Switzerland.

Social media posts that have circulated for months falsely claim not only that Switzerland has banned breast cancer screenings, but that the procedures increase the risk of developing the disease.

A quick personal update:
I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer and will have surgery on April 11 to remove my nipple. I may need radiotherapy.

About a year ago, I ignored a discharge from my nipple — it would have been better to get it checked sooner.

If you notice any changes like that, please don’t ignore them. Get medical advice.

Thanks for your support and kindness — it means a lot. 💗

#CNN correspondent #MeenaDuerson has shed light on a deeply troubling issue in the American healthcare system with her latest report. The story revolves around Dr. #ElizabethPotter, a #BreastCancer surgeon in #Austin, #Texas, who went viral after revealing that #UnitedHealthcare contacted her mid-surgery about a patient who was already on the operating table. The video has amassed over 13 million views on TikTok and Instagram, striking a nerve with many who have struggled with #insurance companies.

UnitedHealthcare later demanded that Dr. Potter take the video down, accusing her of making false claims. In response, she stood by her story, emphasizing how doctors feel pressured to respond instantly to insurance requests for fear of patients being denied care or stuck with devastating bills. The report also highlights the growing tension between medical professionals and for-profit insurance companies, with patients often caught in the crossfire.

This isn’t just about one company—this is about a healthcare system that prioritizes profits over people. Dr. Potter’s patients express more fear of insurance battles than their actual cancer diagnoses, a stark reflection of the challenges many face.
