More wake-up music . Who all likes d-beat and crust punk? I know @lola and @Violette do, maybe one of ya'll has heard of this one.

Just stumbled across this LP 'Taste the Bitter End of a Once Brilliant Dream' from 2023 by Calgary, Alberta's DEATH KNELL, and it's KILLER. Yet more great Canadian punk. Starts with a Nausea-esque intro, then the ripping begins. Some Motorhead in there, too.

This week's is the excellent first demo from Canadian death metal duo WET ROT from Squamish, British Columbia. This 4 song demo entitled 'Fetid Pus' (gross, right?) from 2024 chugs and rips and wails - some great sounding old school type stuff here with excellent dynamics. Hope they keep going and do more, longer releases, this stuff is great.

For anyone born in the last 30 years:
#RoughTrade was an interesting Canadian band.
Checkout some of their music if you can.

Thanks for the music Kevan!
74 is too young to go.

She [other musical partner of group] was about 30 to 40 years ahead of her time.

They were music pioneers. Not afraid to take chances.

THE SIX
The Six
1982 Canada pressing
(Self released)

A really obscure, but really great #folk -y #powerpop record.

I have no idea where in Canada they come from. Just that it’s three dudes bashing out some really fun, catchy, rock n roll.

This was the only thing they recorded/released, and I’m thankful for it. Well worth the .50 I paid for it from a thrift store well over a decade ago.

Continued thread

Almost exactly a year ago in 2024 (and linked to the post above in this thread), I discovered Vancouver, Canada's GRAVE INFESTATION and was listening to their LP from 2022.

As some folks tagged here know, a new Grave Infestation LP is upon us this year, just in time for this week's . It's entitled 'Carnage Gathers', and it RIPS. Wild riffage, great solo spots, dynamics, thunderous drums. Big contender this year.

Something brief and brutal for this week's -- 2024's 'Sang noir' EP from Canada's goregrind freaks THANATOMORPHOSE. Just four tracks, titled in French, about black things -- bile, phlegm, vomit, and blood. Grody, gross, just how I like it.

I'd been looking for it all year and I found it right before the end of 2024-- a seriously badass straight-up punk record that came out earlier this year. KRASH are from Saskatoon and these Canadians are PISSED OFF. 'Nothing is Sacred' is a GREAT fuckin d-beat punk record to end out 2024. It rips through all eight of these tracks and never lets up.

For this week, something special I somehow missed from 2023.

Canada's COPROLITH (what's in the water up there in Canada?) released this grody, crushing, disgusting self-titled demo last year. It starts with this wall of sound type riff and then it devolves into this midtempo riff, and goes back and forth.. THIS is the shit I LOVE. And then 6 tracks of this. 🤯

Rotted Life Records have some INCREDIBLE bands on their roster.

I've had these three great lofi rough (kinda Bob Dylany?) blues-rockish songs by this mysterious Canadian project The Planks in my Bandcamp wishlist forever, and I can find absolutely nothing about the band. The three songs are all from 2018, and I dig em all. A long shot, but anyone know anything about em?

Discovered a GREAT punk band today, maybe you've heard em. They're called No Problem, from Edmonton. All their albums are on Bandcamp - the last was was in 2018, and ALL their EPs and LPs are great.

No Problem were even KILLING IT right out of the gate on their AWESOME debut EP from 2010, 'Your Eyes' that I'm linking here. From the first song, "Debts" (EVERYONE can relate) through the other 3, they're catchy, fast, amazing!

WEAVES, "HELP!"

Help (The Beatles cover)
by Weaves

weaves.bandcamp.com/track/help

For some reason, the Bandcamp search device is having a hard time finding this very interesting Weaves interpretation of "Help!" by The Beatles. With luck, the Yellow Hashtag Road will make it easier.

Singer-songwriter Peter Mulvey makes a sharp distinction between covers and interpretations. This Weaves track is an interpretation.
