#GMA

This recovering news junkie went cold turkey 141 days ago and has not seen any nationally broadcast TV news program since. But today I will break that fast by watching Good Morning America broadcast from Asheville, North Carolina near my hometown of Brevard. The area is now experiencing wildfires in the aftermath of last year's Hurricane Helene.

So why #GMA? Because #ABC is owned by #Disney. The following news convinced me, so I will watch ABC News exclusively:

@braydenwise Scott's eloquence aside, GMA might be a middle ground. They are more popular in Europe but I think the process for adding a reference is much easier. @ve3qbz

When out in the landscape doing #hamRadio activations (#GMA mostly), I do CW and SSB in my case, which I log on paper.

At home, I type it into a homegrown YAML format from which a few lines of Python generate ADIF.

In he YAML, an array of maps. Keys are ADIF tags. I reuse stuff across several QSOs, via the magic key qsos. Below that, another similar array of maps. The structure is recursive: Any map at any level can have a qsos key to start a submap.

Works nicely for me.

@AF0AJ

I said it before but it didn't make sense then, so I'll say it again: While very bad for most, losing its traditional is good long-term. It forced them to rethink and to adapt to the times.

A good example is . In a parallel world where ABS-CBN is still airing, BINI barely reached 2 years. They were dissolved and turned into actors and solo singers, some members went back to their regular lives.

Look at . Because they're still stuck in the 60s-style of management and mindset, they still cannot produce any group.

60s-style: launch an exclusive group, they can only perform in the network's shows. Once they're popular, turn them into actors and solo singers, the rest, goodbye + non-compete agreement.

VIVA Music did attempt to launch idol groups, however, during those times, the industry is still stuck at the 60s-style. To promote the groups of VIVA, they had to sign an exclusivity contract that their group will only appear exclusively in one show of the TV network, and if they become popular, they'll have guesting in other shows within the same TV network.

That's how bad the situation was.

Thus, in a parallel world where things stayed the same, BINI members became actors, and some members became just another employee trapped in the rat race.

So, GMA, when are you going to adapt to the changing times? We are still waiting for you to launch your own idol group without secretly planning to turn them into actors and solo singers later.

And to , it's time to revive your idol program. You were the first to do it, get back into the game!

It will premiere this coming May 8, 2023 at 20:00 ACT (UTC+8), Monday to Friday. Total number of episodes is 80, and the dialogues will be in mix Philippine English and Filipino; with the Boazanians speaking in, well, Boazanian.

I'm not sure if any fansub group/individual will pick it up, but it will be very surprising if no one did. I'm not saying they should do it… but as much as the industry doesn't want to admit it, getting chosen by a fansub is good marketing and a good sign your production was good enough for them to voluntarily make good fansubs. Good, good? ;P

(PS. I'm just a regular excited fan sharing.)
