I'm running a 10 year old router (a Ubiquiti Edgerouter X). I just updated it to the latest #openwrt release - I have a small service window at lunch where I can take the Internet down without impacting my work AND I don't get complaints from the family.
I love that I can still run current firmware on a 10 year old device.

I do not wish to install Python on anything other than the control node, certainly not on the router. But I'd like to be able to do the basics, over a serial connection such as setting the interface IPs, VLANs, trunk ports and firewall config, package installation, overlayfs, if that helps with library recommendation. Me voy a cagar en el #fútbol, en #LaLiga y en todo lo que se menea. Llevo horas sin poder acceder a ningún dominio de github.io hasta que me he preguntado: no será por el fútbol, ¿verdad? No sé ni cuándo hay partidos ni me interesan, pero la duda estaba sembrada. No he encontrado nadie que mencione que las IPs de github.io estuvieran explícitamente dentro del bloqueo, pero me ha dado por probar el Policy Based Routing que tengo configurado en mi #OpenWRT para que sólo esas IPs salgan por una #VPN de #Proton. Y sorpresa, ya accedo sin problemas a todas ellas. Estoy que trino.

Unfortunate news today that an internet friend and important engineer Dave Täht died recently. Dave was responsible for the bufferbloat project and the development of the Cake qdisc in the Linux kernel. He also pushed for much better control of latency across all internet hardware. He's a major reason why cable modem all have queue management algorithms. I interacted with him off and on for 15 years or so. He was about 59 years old so far too young.
