I keep thinking it's a bad idea for us to talk ONLY to 'our own people' (#LaGauche, the left, #anarchists
, #antifascists
, progressives).
Speaking personally, after being subjected to homophobia, after having LGBTQIAplus friends (esp. trans
) unalived by s***cide & hate crimes due to soceity's insistence on hating #LGBTQIAplus
people, and after watching marginalised people become leopard face-fodder by voting against their own interests (Result: making all of our lives worse), I've become somewhat of a hissing cat when it comes to apoliticals who veer towards the right, newly-rightwingers who once upon a time knew better, zionists, etc.
I try and tell myself that reaching out to these people is crucial to building a broad church of #classunity and whatnot. That just because other people are better at reaching out, doesn't mean I and others can shirk that responsibility. In a word, 'Let somebody else talk to them' seems unfair.
But maybe, IDK, some people are good at some stuff and other people are good at other stuff. And that's okay.
