#PublicFootpaths often go through #farmland but also sometimes through #farmyards. Walking through one of the latter, we spotted these #chickens. The #hens started to retreat to their #barn as they spotted us approaching while the #cock remained outside just to make sure we weren’t going to try anything.
I'm having a blast looking after these chickens... it makes me really want chooks.
Every time I see them I hear the "these are my ladies" sound..

Do other folks say "thank you" out loud to their #chickens when they gather eggs, or is it just me? I think they like to know they are not taken for granted

Installed an automatic feeder for the chickens to deliver their scratch after dark so it's there in the morning when they get up. Instead of me doing it after dark. Made a 3D printed hopper for it since I only wanted one portion instead of metered by seconds portions and there's not really much to hang a lot of weight from in the middle of the run. It will probably hold 2 lbs of scratch. It runs on 4 AA batteries or 12v DC.
6 more baby chickens hatched yesterday, with 10 in total now. There are 8 eggs left in the incubator.
The feather duster acts as an artificial mother, which gives the chicks comfort.
