Not gonna lie, I'm a loyal cradle #Anglican but I'm also a raging protestant in the model of Cranmer himself so I really struggle with the #Chrism thing. I accept oil-anointing as a Biblical activity but I find no basis for the idea that it must be done with specific, special oil. And yet, I am also persuaded that much (most?) of the Spirit's work is a mystery to us and that my more Catholic brothers and sisters have glimpsed things of God of which I know not.

Naomi Klein & Astra Taylor on the horrific (and, I suspect, unstable) alliance of #fundamentalist "Christians", #tech bros and assorted dunderheads that make up #MAGA. Klein suggests that indigenous religions offer good stories about protecting creation. But a reasonable #Christianity does too, with a #theology of #creation which emphasises that all things are gifts of #God, and that we are called to care for #creation

The picture by discipline is also very interesting...

Religion and Theology scholars take note! OpenAlex has significantly better coverage of OA journals in this area.

(I bet Religion and Theology scholars are already aware that Scopus and Web of Science do not serve them well and I assume they aren't well used in this research community)

"The Los Books Of The Bible and The Forgotten Books of Eden"

As I read somewhere, said that those were the books the Fathers of The Church "refused" to include them in the Bible. Simply hilarious. There are lot of reasons why, and all obvious.

However, I'm interested to get those books and study them someday.

Today, we remembers the death of the German Protestant theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was executed on this day in 1945 for his active opposition to Nazism. May his courage and his memory never be forgotten. #dietrichbonhoeffer #fascism #nazism #Trump #MAGA #Germany #theology #USA #stupidity #cheapgrace #religion #christianity #christian #ChristianNationalism #philosophy #sociology #psychology #resist #TrumpLies #trumptariffs #decline #usa #jesus

In protestant doctrine, life on Earth seems like a meaningless charade. Its value is infinitesimal compared to that of the afterlife, and whether we end up in Heaven or Hell is already predestined. So why doesn't God just immediately create us in the afterlife?

This question *must* be a commonly discussed one in #theology, but I'm not a theologian and I don't know where to look. Any ideas?
