Watching #Stonehouse today my husband & I were intrigued by the scenes in the #British #HouseOfCommons. We found ourselves comparing it with the #Canadian one (ours is based on theirs). We noticed is how crowded the #UK MPs are compared to their Canadian counterparts and that they literally sit on benches (origin of term "back bencher") & have to hold papers in their laps. In #Canada our MPs sit on chairs in front of shallow tables. (2 MPs at each table.) There are 650 in the British House of Commons whereas there are only 338 in the Canadian House of Commons. As well, the #SpeakerOfTheHouse in the UK wears a wig whereas ours does not. (Canadian judges & lawyers don't wear wigs either but unlike American lawyers & like #UK barristers, they also wear do black robes.) Here's a comparison photo of the 2 House of Commons,
