I just finished this audibook, “Politics On The Edge”, read by the author Rory Stewart.
An excellently written account of life in politics - and I can highly recommend listening to the audiobook as Rory is an entertaining reader.
If he had become PM rather than Johnson, the UK would be a different and (most likely) a better place. Intelligence, a moral compass, humility plus a sense of humour are rare attributes amongst politicians.

Hand Basket

My current audiobook is making me feel like an immature child and it is giving me the giggles.

I am listening to Recursion by Blake Crouch. I’m about 2/3 of the way through and I am really digging it. I keep thinking I know where it’s going and then it curves off to someplace totally unexpected. That’s not what this post is about though.

This post is about how I am a nine year old goofball. One of the characters is named Helena. Every time one of the two readers says the character’s name I insert the words hand basket immediately after it.

Helena (hand basket) said hello.

Helena (hand basket) did something.

Every time I do it I feel like I am going to giggle. What a goof. Sometimes I think that I am going to stop it and I do… briefly. I stop inserting hand basket but instead I insert the word bucket.

Helena (bucket) walked down the hall.

Helena (bucket) opened the door.

Yeah, I am a child. A goofy, lame, immature child.

I've been listening to "Life as No One Knows It: The Physics of Life's Emergence" by Sara Imari Walker on my daily walks now and I'm finding it very inspiring.

I had not really thought properly about how you could use human creations as a proof for consciousness and that leads to so many other thoughts about the subject... Minds are amazing and it does make sense that they are kind of the source of everything from buildings to tools to art etc. :blobaww:

Good night! #3GoodThings
1. Finished that chapter in Braille and decided on a Kindle book to listen to using Kindle Assistive Reader.
2. Achieved all my fitness goals today and feel good about it. Who knew a smart watch could be such a motivator?
3. Hubs and I finished another audio book. Look in the Mirror by Catherine Steadman. Not the best audio book we’ve listened to but definitely interesting.
Sleep well and may your dreams be out of this world. 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodNight #Braille #Fitness #AudioBooks

🖤 My novel GODHUNTER will be available in audio starting on April 8th, narrated by Marnye Young. I’m so excited to share this trailer with everyone!

🖤 If you’re interested, the universal book link in my profile lists some of the marketplaces where you can order it, but I couldn’t get them all up. When in doubt, please try a search! I hope it will be available in libraries too.

Good morning! Wishing you all a marvelous Monday filled with only good things, high energy and positivity. Sitting here this morning drinking coffee and reading. I’m determined to finish this chapter today. I finished Primal Mirror yesterday so have to decide on another audio book to listen to while doing chores.

Be kind to yourself and those around you, hug tight those you love most and smile, this world needs those beautiful smiles. 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodMorning #Positivity #Braille #AudioBooks

I've finished: When the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi

This novel is a writing exercise. How would people in the US react if the moon suddenly turned into cheese?

This setup works very well with Scalzi's, What the Fuck and Fuck you style of humor.

Things start to get more dramatic towards the end and I would have preferred a different ending.

I've finished: Carmila by J. Sheridan Le Fanu

I listened to the Audible dramatization, featuring some impressive actors.

Carmila was surprisingly sexy-lesbian for a late 19th century work.

It was interesting to read a pre-Dracula vampire story. The christian elements are more muted and the victim isn't tainted by sin.

PS.
I was introduced to Carmila by the Wizards vx. Lesbians podcast. Though They discussed a different edition.
